Devonshire Place Apartments marylebone, london

A courtyard, a pod, a green roof: spatial invention in a listed setting.

MWAI transformed a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in Marylebone into six bespoke apartments for DAO Estates. Located in the Harley Street Conservation Area, the building’s historic character was preserved through careful restoration of its Georgian symmetry, original plan form, and key architectural features.

A new rear extension and courtyard were introduced to improve spatial flow, while a pod-like bathroom on the first floor allowed for modern living without compromising heritage. Each apartment was designed with clarity and material richness, combining FSC-certified oak flooring, Richlite recycled joinery, and eco-friendly finishes.

Sustainability was central to the project, with air source heat pumps, heat recovery systems, and a Bauder green roof enhancing energy performance. Devonshire Place offers a fresh take on Georgian architecture—where historic elegance meets contemporary, low-impact living.
