Wild Honey is a Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant and cocktail bar located within Sofitel St James, London — the flagship UK property of the Sofitel brand. The restaurant was refurbished in 2019 as part of a wider programme of works across the hotel.
MWAI worked closely with the hotel operator, ownership, branding team, and interior designer Jim Hamilton to deliver a 116-cover dining space and 50-cover cocktail bar. The restaurant also serves as the primary F&B outlet for the 250-bed luxury hotel.
Sofitel St James occupies a Grade II listed building at the prominent junction of Pall Mall and Waterloo Place, part of the Nash Terrace within The Crown Estate. The building had undergone several post-war refurbishments that removed many original internal features. MWAI’s scope included façade detailing, external lighting, street furniture, and signage — all designed to enhance the restaurant’s visibility on a busy tourist thoroughfare.
MWAI acted as architect and principal designer for the two-level space, coordinating the work of Jim Hamilton Design, Scotsman Group, and technical consultants including M&E, AV, and structural engineers. All interventions were sensitively executed with full listed building consent, while the hotel remained operational throughout.
The result is a bold, elegant dining destination that anchors Sofitel’s hospitality offering and elevates its presence on the London gastronomic map.
